Biotic and Abiotic Factors
Biotic
Biotic factors are parts of a biome that are alive.

Great Blue Heron
The Great Blue Heron is a Stork-like bird that lives near water to snatch fish from the water with their long beaks. They are called "Great Blue Herons" for a reason. They are a large bird, they are a little bit blue on their wings and body, and they are, of course, a type of Heron.

Mangrove Trees
A Mangrove is a tree that it is specially adapted to salt water, and they compound salt that they suck into their roots into special yellow leaf. It then sheds the leaf, expelling the salt from itself. The roots on the bottom help it stay rooted in the ground because there are tides that can sweep it away into the estuary.

Flounder
The Flounder is a fish that has both of his eyes are on one side of his head because it lies on one side, and it also swims on its side too. The Flounder is enjoyed by many people for it's delicious meat, and many animals too.

Cordgrass
Cordgrass is a plant that has adapted to the salty conditions of an Estuary. They are usually 6-7 feet tall, and live at the water's edge at salt marshes, a type of Estuary. Root structure is strong to withstand silty conditions.

Water
The water in an Estuary is Brackish it is a mix of two different types. You probably know them, but if you don't, one is salt water, the other is freshwater. They sometimes mix, but oftentimes they separate; the saltwater sinks, and the freshwater rises. That is Brackish water.

Mud and Sand
Mud and sand are very important components of the Estuary biome. In the tropical estuary, sediment becomes so oxygen poor that mangroves adapted to have pores in their roots too let air in. Mud also provides small crabs with a den. Along with other small organisms that intermingle in the mud.
